About Leilah

Leilah Dhoré is a visual artist based in Toronto. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Art in Photography, with two minors – Art and Social Change and Science – at OCAD University. In her personal practice, she explores themes related to nature, the universe, and mental health. She often uses collage and multiple exposure techniques to express her layered experiences.

For over ten years, she has worked as a freelance photographer, videographer, and artist. In 2021, as a graduate of the OYA Emerging Filmmakers Program, she served as a director of photography and assistant editor for the award-winning film Reel Black: Our Film Stories, available on CBC Gem. Her collaging skills led her to become a junior mentor and later an artist mentor for the iAM Collaging program at JAYU in 2020.

Her artwork has been showcased in various exhibitions including two online exhibitions with the International Arts Collaborations Network through OCAD University from 2021-2023, in Nuit Blanche North York and JAYU's iAM Nexus Exhibition, and at the ADC Art Center in Wuhan, China, in 2022. Inspired by her peers, mentors, and fellow artists, she is dedicated to nurturing her creative voice and visions.
