Leilah Dhoré
The Void
Originally taken in 2015, my intention for this series was to confront imposed narratives of absence that define wholeness of truth.
In modifying these images, I wanted to address the nuances in demonizing narratives about family homes that have children in the absence of men. My revisitation to this series was in contemplation of the metaphorical “elephant in the room” regarding how silence and secrecy allows for the assumptions and distorted judgments created by these pathologies, to fuel fears of the unknown while justifying any form of violence in thriving.
