Leilah Dhoré is an emerging, international, award-winning photographer, filmmaker, and visual artist based in Tkaronto. She is continuously inspired by the social impact of her peers, mentors, and other artists in these communities.
As her multidisciplinary practice evolves, she has taken up collaging and has facilitated workshops for JAYU’s iAM Program. For over the past decade, Leilah has been featured in group exhibitions for which she created works that express her experiences of identity, mental health, disability, healing, spirituality and social change. Currently, her nature-themed works are being featured in the Transformations exhibition with the International Arts Collaborations Network. She was also featured in last year's exhibition Activate/Agitate.
As a photographer, Leilah began her career documenting various arts communities, non-profit organizations, film productions, educators, entrepreneurs and intimate events such as weddings. Now, a 2021 graduate of the Oya Emerging Filmmakers Program she makes her way into filmmaking with her second credit as a Director of Photography and Assistant Editor for the short documentary Reel Black: Our Film Stories which was first broadcast on CBC in March of 2022. She is driven by the sense of purpose her journey has given her over the past decade as she persistently nurtures her artistic voice and vision through her continuous learning.
